Scrip is a substitute for cash that has value. In the context of fundraising, scrip is a card or certificate issued by a merchant (retailer) with a certain denomination ($10, $25, $50, etc).
New England Scrip™ is a scrip center that buys large volumes of gift certificates from retailers at a discount from the face value of the card. In turn, non-profit organizations can buy the cards at a discount and sell them at full face value. We focus on including merchants within New England, including Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont, although we have many customers from outside the New England region.
